With a strong focus on wind power in Denmark, Germany, Sweden and the UK, many of the young talents look at the opportunities that arise within renewable energy, in a similar way to the 1980s when they moved towards the booming oil and gas industry.  As a result, the growing market for offshore wind turbines means that increasingly, Oil & Gas is experiencing a "brain drain" of skilled managers and specialists available to both turbine manufacturers and energy companies who demand the very skills that Oil & Gas has spent the past 30 years building.

The wind industry is still characterised by a degree of industrial immaturity and is in a similar position to where the automotive industry was 30 years ago. Due to "Local Content" problems and high transport and installation costs, wind turbine manufacturers have to focus on the proximity to their customers and also developing new logistic concepts to compete with coal. Turbine manufacturers and their subcontractors will consequently experience a concentration in the industry and the hunt for talent will, by necessity, become more and more global.
